IMPORTANT NOTES ABOUT DOOR COUNTY WEATHER

  • Summer storms often weaken as they move from land to water—but occasionally, the opposite occurs.
  • Storm paths and strength can shift quickly, making real-time decisions necessary.

Rain

  • Tours usually proceed in light to moderate rain, especially when the forecast calls for scattered showers.
  • If heavy rain is approaching, we may cancel a tour within about an hour of departure.

Wind

  • In Sturgeon Bay, the route is well-protected, so wind is rarely an issue.
  • In Baileys Harbor, eastward winds of 15+ mph may lead to cancellations due to exposure to open water.

🔍 Pro Tip: We recommend checking the local forecast before booking. These guidelines can help you choose the best time for your tour.

Sometimes weather decisions come down to the wire. The captain scheduled for the tour has the final authority to cancel a tour due to weather conditions.
